Road to Wrestlemania XXX, Part Two

This is part two of my weekly blog series, where I attempt to predict the final card for Wrestlemania XXX based on the events portrayed on WWE television over the past few weeks.

Divas Match: Lita's well-deserved induction into the WWE Hall of Fame means one thing, she will be in New Orleans for Wrestlemania XXX. We all know how much AJ Lee idolized Lita - so much that she cried when meeting her as a child - so obviously a match between the two of them would be a dream match for AJ. Honestly, it'd be a dream match for me too. Well, if Lita was 5 years younger and hadn't been away from wrestling for as long as she has. She's not going to be the wrestler she once was, but she is still heads and toes above any other option for competition. Of course, I'm just spitballing here because there's been no mention of Lita facing AJ Lee. There's been no mention of anyone facing AJ Lee for the Divas Championship now that Naomi is injured and out for a month, She could come back in time to challenge for the Divas Championship, but by then Total Divas will be back and you know, priorities.

The Shield: On both RAW and Smackdown this past week, The Shield looked like a formidable stable again. No in-fighting. No blind tags. Nothing but a cohesive unit looking to face another formidable team in the Wyatt Family come Elimination Chamber. That doesn't mean their issues are done. Just put on hold until after the PPV, where I'm sure the shit will start to hit the fan.

Tag Team Titles: The Usos have made some headway into getting a much-deserved Tag Team Title shot by winning a tag-team match on RAW and a 8-man tag match on Smackdown. Unfortunately, it seems that Tag Team Title shot is set to come at Elimination Chamber and not Wrestlemania XXX. Instead, it seems as if WWE is hinting towards having a multi-team match at Wrestlemania. Probably the New Age Outlaws, The Usos, Rybaxel & The Brotherhood - though I hope the latter tag team isn't involved for obvious reasons. I'd much rather they slip The Real Americans into that slot - I strongly doubt either of them win their respective title matches this Sunday.

US/IC Championships: No sooner do I mention that neither the US or IC Titles are defended do we get a United States Title defense and a #1 contender for the Intercontinental Title. The US Title defense was a dud, but having Jack Swagger challenge Big E is a stroke of genius. That could be a hell of a match. I doubt Swagger wins and takes the IC Title into Wrestlemania XXX, but at least there's some movement on that front. The US Title, meanwhile, is set to stay defunct unless the supposed match involving The Shield has title implications.

Daniel Bryan vs Triple H: Daniel Bryan continues to be the thorn in The Authority's side. He's still confronting them on RAW each week. He's drawn the ire of the Director of Operations, Corporate Kane. Who, by the way, I like better than the masked Kane of the past five years or so. I figure the rivalry between Kane & Daniel Bryan will continue past Elimination Chamber and eventually will slide over to Triple H in the weeks between the two PPVs. Albeit, I wouldn't be completely opposed to seeing Daniel Bryan vs Kane at Wrestlemania XXX.

Undertaker vs ???: Despite there being nothing but rumors to go on, we all know this match will happen. It's just a question of who Undertaker will face. The easiest answer is Brock Lesnar, as I surmised last week, but that's no definite. I still hold firm that I'd much rather it be John Cena vs Undertaker than anyone else. The match won't be great, but it'll have one of two possible outcomes. Either Cena loses, which always makes me smile, or Cena wins and gets berated and booed by everyone, which would make me the happiest man alive. Who knows, it might even turn him into a full-fledged heel. His win over The Rock last year irked a lot of people and on the following RAW - that epic night - he himself even teased a heel turn. It could happen.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship: No matter how many of the opponents in the Elimination Chamber match Randy Orton loses to, he's still penciled in as everybody's favorite to win. WWE has their sights set on Orton vs Batista and I doubt they'll change their minds. They may add someone to the match so that it doesn't get buried by the fans in attendance, but Orton vs Batista will happen at Wrestlemania XXX. It could happen that someone like Daniel Bryan wins the match and the title, then Batista gets his title shot and Orton gets his rematch - turning the match into a Triple Threat, but that's unlikely.

The previously predicted matches of John Cena vs The Wyatt Family and Cody Rhodes vs Goldust were removed from this edition due to there being no progress towards those matches this past week. If those matches were to seem likely to happen again, they'll return. I'll keep my eye on the developments coming this week, including the Elimination Chamber PPV, and will be back next week hopefully with a clearer eye towards Wrestlemania XXX.
