Kota Ibushi Signs One Year Deal

A major announcement came out of a New Japan press conference yesterday-top DDT star Kota Ibushi has become maybe the first wrestler to be simultaneously affiliated with 2 promotions!

Although not leaving DDT he has signed a 1-year deal with New Japan.

Apparently while he was still President of New Japan last month, now-Chairman Naoki Sugabayashi first floated the idea to DDT President Sanshiro Takagi, but it didn’t work out although Sugabayashi was persistent in his request. 

A deal has now been done and in addition to the 1 year NJPW contract Ibushi signed a 3-year extension with DDT. The current plan is for Ibushi to work almost all DDT events going forward and limited New Japan dates with the focus being on major events & matches. Ibushi’s first New Japan appearance under this deal will be at KING OF PRO WRESTLING on 10/14, where he will be the TBA teaming with Tomoaki Honma & Makabe to face Bad Luck Fale, Karl Anderson & Prince Devitt.
