Wrestle Kingdom 8 Preview

Over the last eighteen months NJPW has been on a tremendous role.  Last year Wrestle Kingdom 7, Invasion Attack, Dominion and the King of Pro Wrestling iPPV events were all spectacular shows. Both Wrestle Kingdom and Invasion Attack (alongside day 4 of the G1 Climax) were all in the running for The Wrestling Media Nation Pay-Per-View of the Year Award, which one of them may well have won by the time this preview goes up.

Classic Rivalries: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Kazuchika Okada

Between February 2012 and October 2013, these two met in six major single matches. Five of those were for the IWGP Heavyweight Title (the main title in New Japan Pro Wrestling) with the sixth occurring during this year's G1 Climax tournament.

All of those matches are considered to be excellent, with at least two of them securing ***** ratings, their feud as been compared to such legendary rivalries such as Flair vs.Steamboat or Misawa vs. Kobashi.

Our Friends Interview Jim Cornette

Our Friends at Wrestlings Last Hope run a podcast called The Indy Corner.

This week they got to interview the legendary Jim Cornette! They spoke about a variety of things and people including Colt Cabana, Kevin Steen and the man of the moment Davey Richards.

Hello again. Before I start today’s column, I’d like to thank everyone who read my last column on entrance music (Linked at the end of this article!). Particular thanks to Jay Hunter from the OSW Review crew who gave me some very constructive feedback, which I hope to act upon!

I wasn’t expecting to write a new column so soon after the last one, but a comment from Benjamin Tucker of the PWTorch website got me thinking. Upon reviewing this past week’s edition of Smackdown, he summed it up with the following statement: “For a show where half the roster is overseas, this could have been a lot worse. Like the U.K. episodes next week probably will be. (Editor's note: As this article has gone up late the shows of course have already aired)

TNA Disaster: Dixie, Hulk & AJ = No BFG Buys

TNA only now offer 4 PPV events are year, with that in mind you would think that TNA would consider these shows to be very important with strong storylines leading to their fans wanting to pay good money to see the conclusion play out on PPV.

Bret Hart: The Dungeon Collection DVD Review

The Dungeon Collection is the latest WWE release for Bret, and is basically a collection of rare matches throughout his career and as such haven't been seen on previous releases. It's a three disc set that covers his career from Stampede all the way through to his ill-fated run in WCW.

Before each match he gives his thoughts on the match or his opponents. Some of these are really interesting such as the 'Hitman' gimmick was a cross between Dynamite Kid and John McEnroe. Or why Owen Hart changed his style for his feud with Bret in 1994. Others are where he just says nice things and others are just really strange with the 'highlight' being where he thinks Ric Flair doesn't understand psychology which is a ludicrous thing to say.

I'll give my thoughts on what I believe are the best things on each DVD and my general thoughts overall.
