TNA Titles To Be Defended At Wrestle-1 Event

TNA have announced through their website that a number of their wrestlers will be wrestling on a Wrestle-1 event on March 2nd. The show will be taped and broadcast as part of TNAs One Night Only ppv series.

Interestingly, although TNA make no mention of it, Wrestle-1s' match-maker has announced that the TNA World Title, X-Division Title and World Tag-Team Titles will be defended on the show.

Keiji Mutoh (The Great Mutah) and Seiya Sanada will be appearing at Lockdown as part of the deal.

Jim Ross Blogs On CM Punk Situation

Former head of WWE Talent Relations, Jim Ross, has written about the CM Punk situation over on his blog at jrsbarbq.com. In it he talks about the reasons Punk may have walked away and about whether or not he thinks Punk will return to the promotion. The news of the day surrounds the talented CM Punk unexpectedly walking away from WWE.

Was it really unexpected? Likely not. Punk has not been a happy camper within WWE for quite some time. That point has been made abundantly clear on many occasions. He's tired, he's beat up, and he's not enjoying himself at work.

KENTA Issues Update On WWE "Tryout"

KENTA has updated his fans about his visit this week to the WWE Performance Center. In it he explained that he wasn’t there for a WWE tryout, but simply for a workout during which company executives were present. He said he’s always wanted to give WWE a try so he used his time off to travel to the United States and work out at the company’s developmental training facility.

He concluded by thanking Pro Wrestling NOAH president Akira Taue for allowing him the opportunity. So based on this, rumors a WWE contract is imminent are premature as of this writing.

ROH Announces AJ Styles Next Two Opponents

Upon his return to a Ring of Honor ring, the promotion have announced that AJ Styles next opponents will be Jay Lethal at their 12th Anniversary weekend (Feb 21st) and "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin at the following nights TV tapings (Feb 22nd).

WWE Sign Contract With Sky TV Until 2019 (UK) - How Could This Affect The Network?

WWE have signed a new deal with SKY TV in the UK which will see Raw, Smackdown and Main Event available on the service until 2019. In addition to increasing their rights fees with the top pay-TV provider in the Country, the deal now means that ALL of their PPVs will actually be pay-per-view in the market instead of some being available on standard Sky Sports (as was the previous deal).

The companies re-newed deal with SKY comes just as SKY are getting their first major competition for sports in the UK with British Telecoms' BT Sport channel snapping up the rights to the UFC and, far more importantly, multiple Premier League and Champions League rights.

WWE have always partnered with SKY in the UK, but this could seriously affect what the WWE Network can offer in terms of live PPV streaming for their standard monthly price (once the service is launched in the Country - which isn't scheduled to happen until the end of 2014 at the earliest).

  Unlike the US, SKY is the be all and end all TV service for WWE in the UK - it's unlikely that the promotion could undercut their PPV TV company like they can in the US because SKY carries ALL WWE programming over here.

Meltzer On Punk Departure

Reportedly Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter had this to say about the alleged walk out of CM Punk:

"It's funny that it took so long to come out because he did it right before Raw started. I guess the deal is he told Vince McMahon that he was going home and he went home. And they were not expecting that tohappen. People had certainly expected that he was going to leave in July. They could see that it was coming, he was getting burned out, the signs were there. I had heard about it for quite a while that he was theoretically going to leave in July, but I always take that with a grain of salt because you know how many guys say 'I'm retiring' in pro wrestling and then when the day comes they don't. It's hard to walk away because there's so much money.

"The thing with him is he's very different from a lot of the guys in the sense that he saved his money, which is a big thing, and he didn't need them, in his mind. I think that most of these guys... because a lot of these guys are frustrated, not all of them but a lot of them, but at the end of the day they don't complain and they're afraid to say anything. I don't want to say he's not afraid to say anything but he spoke his mind more than anyone else and he didn't have a fear of being fired because if he's fired, what's going to happen? He's going to have more free time and he's going to be able to rest up his injuries, and he doesn't have that financial concern.

"I have no idea what the straw was that broke the camel's back in the last couple of days other than it happened. But tt wasn't one thing, that I can tell you. It's been building up for a year, maybe a little less than a year maybe even more than a year. What I do know obviously is he wanted to be the top guy in the company and as long as John Cena was there it was not going to happen. He went heel when he was a very strong babyface because of the idea that he could be the number one heel. ... Whatever it was, I can't tell you more, I just know that he didn't need it and the guy's that don't need it have a different mentality than the guy's who need it." - Dave Meltzter, Wrestling Obsever

CM PUNK Leaves WWE?

This is really just a more strongly directed version of the story we reported earlier, and THIS piece has been copied word for word from Lords of Pain, so if this turns out to be a work, you know who to blame!

"Word has come out that CM Punk has left WWE, according to sources for the Wrestling Observer and PWInsider.

After being re-written out of the script for Raw, Punk reportedly told Vince McMahon he was going home and that he wasn't coming back. The company responded by pulling him from all of his scheduled WWE dates going forward.

New Beginning Card(s)

New Japan continue to confuse their iPPV issue by announcing that Road To New Beginning Night one will also be available on the platform alongside the TWO New Beginning Events themselves in Hiroshima and Osaka. Splitting New Beginning over two shows has allowed them to headline both the IWGP Intercontinental Title rematch from Wrestle Kingdom as well as the IWGP Heavyweight title itself.

CM Punk Removed From Tour Advertising, Done With WWE?

CM Punk did not appear for last nights Smackdown taping despite being advertised for the show. He also didn't appear on Mondays Raw.

WWE have since removed Punk from almost all of their upcoming live events and television tapings on the events section of their website. A number of sites are, at this point, speculating on whether Punk is injured or on his way out of the promotion. His contract expires in July and he'd already stated that he's not sure whether he'll re-sign with the promotion.

According to F4Wonline Punk showed up for Raw on Monday, told Vince McMahon that he was going home and promptly did so.
