On this day in Pro Wrestling History.. We lost a Great One!

On this day in 2009, the wrestling world lost WWE Hall of Famer and legendary manager Captain Lou Albano at the age of 76. Albano had been a mildly successful tag team wrestler, but on the advice on Bruno Sammartino, he retired from active duties and became the famed manager that most of us remember him as. In his WWF career, he managed over 50 wrestlers, who between them won around 24 championships. He left the WWF in 1995 and began making appearances on the independent circuit. Outside of wrestling, Albano had also forged a semi-successful acting career, playing and voicing Mario in the Super Mario Bros Super Show alongside appearances in music videos and movies. Albano had his first heart attack in 2005; he recovered from that, but died from a second one in his sleep 4 years later.
