Glory By Honor XII Main Event Announced

Ring of Honor have announced the main event for their upcoming Glory By Honor XII show. It will be an eight man elimination-tag match featuring "Allstars vs Champions".

The Allstar team consists of “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin, Jay Lethal, and C&C Wrestle Factory (Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander). The Champions team consists of World Champion Adam Cole, World Tag Team Champions reDRagon (Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish), and World TV Champion Matt Taven.

There is a great deal riding on this 2-Hour time limit bout. Should anyone on the All-Star team pin the World Champion , they will then receive a future World Title opportunity! You know that both Elgin and Lethal, especially Elgin, would love another crack at the title. It would certainly skyrocket the career of either Coleman or Alexander if they earned that opportunity!

Speaking of Cole & Alexander, they head into this bout with a bit of momentum on their side. Cedric recently pinned O'Reilly at Death Before Dishonor XI plus C&C are also slated to receive another Tag Team Title match very shortly. Lethal recently danced with Taven in a World TV Title match that will soon air on ROH TV. Considering Lethal is not wearing the championship heading into this bout, you can imagine how that went. As for Elgin, with the reprehensible actions of Cole following his clean victory in the World Title Tournament Finals at DBD XI, it is safe to assume all “Unbreakable” wants is to rip the head off the champ.

On the other side of the line, the champions' team has to be considered a very tenuous alliance at best. Cole may be the World Champion now but for 8 months he was the TV Champion and it was one of his "allies", Matt Taven, who defeated him back at the “11th Anniversary Event” for the title. Another of Cole's “teammates”, World Tag Champion Kyle O'Reilly, was the other-half of Future Shock alongside Adam for most of their early ROH careers. Their pairing never led to the gold but it honed each man into the stars they have since become. Still, it was Kyle who ended that union and spent the better part of 2012 battling Cole until Adam defeated him in their TV Title bout that aired on the 11/17/12 edition of ROH TV.

With all of those disparate threads coming together in this match, the stage has been set for one epic collision at “Glory by Honor XII”! Can Cole and his team prevent four different men from claiming a World Title match? With all that history can Taven & reDRagon even work together with the champ? Or will we see the champions laid low by four very hungry warriors in Lethal, Elgin, and C&C?

  1. While winning this bout might make Cole and company look stronger, I think that would be the wrong move to take as that would deprive us of seeing four very good title matches in the future. While Elgin and Lethal will almost certainly get shots at Adam Cole in the future even if they lose this match, the same thing can not be said for the members of C & C. It would be fun to see Cedric and Caprice in singles action against the champ and while they wouldn't really be a threat to Cole's reign, a solid match would boost the credibility of both the champ and the challenger.

Basically, losing at Glory by Honor would give Adam Cole four opportunities to show the fans why he is the champion by beating each member of the All-Star team in the following weeks, while winning...actually doesn't make him appear that much stronger.
