MSM: Okada vs Tanahashi (Wrestle Kingdom 7)

As you all know, the voting for The Wrestling Media Nation Awards is going on over on the forum - and at the time of posting, THIS is the bout leading the polls for our 2013 Match Of The Year award.

Taking place on January 4th at Wrestle Kingdom 7, New Japans biggest show of the year, this is a main event for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.

The challenger; The G1 Climax 2012 winner, Kazuchika Okada, cashing in the title match he earned from that competition against the man who took the IWGP Heavyweight Championship from him in the first place; the man who jointly holds the record for the number of IWGP Heavyweight Championship reigns with six, and one of the greatest wrestlers of all time; the defending IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Hiroshi Tanahashi!

Classic Rivalries: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Kazuchika Okada

Between February 2012 and October 2013, these two met in six major single matches. Five of those were for the IWGP Heavyweight Title (the main title in New Japan Pro Wrestling) with the sixth occurring during this year's G1 Climax tournament.

All of those matches are considered to be excellent, with at least two of them securing ***** ratings, their feud as been compared to such legendary rivalries such as Flair vs.Steamboat or Misawa vs. Kobashi.

MSM: Okada vs Tanahashi 6

The Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Kazuchika Okada series of matches has entered legendary status. The two men seem made to wrestle each other and many people now rank their series as the best of all time. That's right, even better than Flair vs Steamboat.

What we have for tonights Must See Match is match #6 between the two (and yet another match of the year candidate). After two wins a piece and one tie from the previous five matches, Okada stated that if he couldn't beat Tanahashi then he would vacate the title, even a draw would not satisfy for him. Tanahashi, for his part said that if he couldn't beat him then he would no longer be able to challenge for the title while Okada was still the champion.

Oh, and of course, the IWGP Heavyweight title on the line.

It really doesn't get bigger than this.
So sit back and enjoy as we offer you one of the best matches you've ever seen!

What are your Must See Matches?
Let us know at this link and we'll feature them on the site and give you a shout out for nominating them!

MSM Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Kazuchika Okada (Invasion Attack)

It's Saturday night and it's time for another Must See Match. After giving you the match that started Hulkamania on Wednesday, a match that, other than historical significance, has no real entertainment value whatsoever, I thought a change of pace was in order.
So tonight your Must See Match is a 2013 Match of the Year contender, from Aprils New Japan Invasion Attack iPPV - Hiroshi Tanahashi defends his IWGP Championship against the New Japan Cup winner, Kazuchika Okada.
A lot of people have dismissed New Japan simply because of the language barrier, I think they're wrong to do so. The first six minutes of this video are the type of hype package you get from them for main event matches and it explains everything simply through video and music and does a much better job than even WWE do for their main events.
Unless something spectacular takes place in the next couple of months, THIS will be the match I vote for as Match of the Year. Enjoy.
