Eddie Edwards & Davey Richards TNA Debut, Genesis Results

Last night on TNAs Impact Genesis Special, Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards made their debuts in the above backstage segment with Dixie Carter. Both men are now listed on the TNA website Roster page

Irrelevant of the storyline they were presenting this segment was massively significant. TNA have signed not only two of the top, most recognizable independent talents in the world, but also immediately placed them into what will presumably become the top storyline as Dixie and this new investor go to war. They have also done what many people have been crying out for them to do for a long time and that's take the wheat of the independent crop instead of the chaff from WWE.

For all of those people crying over the departure of AJ Styles, TNA have just replaced him with two just as talented and, more importantly, fresher faces that are more than capable of filling the void that Styles has left behind. Richards and Edwards are a throwback to what the X-Division used to be but with the momentum behind them to take that style into the main-event picture. TNA could be about to embark on their best period since the Joe/Styles/Daniels main event feud of 2009.

Perhaps their financial situation is going to be a blessing in disguise?

Davey Richards' future gets more interesting by the day. A few weeks ago it was revealed that he was to be part of an extended WWE tryout, wrestling on NXT and SmackDown, alongside his tag partner Eddie Edwards. This in itself was peculiar as it hinted at a new way for wrestlers to potentially enter the company or, at the very least, that WWE were showing uncharacteristic flexibility.

But WWE's hiring policies have been dwarfed by the news that Davey Richards and Ring of Honor have parted ways. The reason for the split is an interview given by Richards to British wrestling magazine-website Total Wrestling (never 'eard of 'em). 'The Lone Wolf' trashed the current direction of the promotion he's called home for seven years, stating that the tag titles "don't mean anything anymore", that the booking of the world title has been "substandard and screwy" leading to the championship's devaluation, and that he doesn't care about the promotion's much discussed iPPV woes.

The above match has been announced by Ring of Honor on their website for Final Battle.  The page announcing the match included this paragraph relating to Davey Richards:

Both Richards and Edwards do not have any upcoming ROH appearances following Final Battle because of commitments and endeavors, that will prevent them wrestling full time for ROH. However, due to recent events, Davey Richards has been removed from the Final Battle match by ROH management due to his unprofessionalism and unreliability with the company.

Why Davey Richards Is Done With Ring Of Honor

Davey Richards has long been rumoured to be WWE bound and actually worked the last NXT tapings alongside his American Wolves tag-team partner Eddie Edwards. He has announced on Facebook that he's done with ROH and will not be appearing at Final Battle.

His Facebook post:
"With a heavy heart, I can announce I announce that myself and ROH have parted ways for good and I will not be at Final Battle. Please continue to support them and the incredible talent they have. Thanks for the memories. It was an amazing ride."

However his tryouts with WWE are said not to be the reason he's left the promotion and he tweeted the following yesterday afternoon:

We posted earlier that Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards had made their debuts on NXT, and now here's the video proof. Edwards has changed his name and they've used a nice tweak to the British Bulldogs moniker... and I want to see these guys with WWE gold around their waists to revitalise the tag division!

We knew Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards were attending the WWE training center, what we didn't know was that they'd be working an NXT taping.

For those that are interested they took on (and lost to) The Ascension. The result though, is irrelevant.
